| Hollywood Comes to Guernsey |

Kenneth Branagh and Kate Winslet are not the first names that spring to mind when thinking of Guernsey...but this may all change soon.
Following the success in the USA of a book entitled “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society” a film is to be made and Mr Branagh has decided to call it simply “Guernsey”.
The star of the film is set to be Kate Winslet and both she and Mr Branagh have visited the Island recently to scout for suitable locations.
If the film is as successful as the book, the Island could see a huge influx of visitors...so book soon to avoid the rush!. |

| Le Friquet Weather Station |
One of our regular Restaurant Guests has brought to light a fascinating story of his experience during the German occupation of Guernsey in World War 2.
As a young boy he recalls playing in the field belonging to Le Friquet Farmhouse (now Le Friquet Hotel). At the time this was a dangerous thing to do as it was occupied by German soldiers who used the building as a “weather station”.
One day a large “weather balloon” broke-free whilst he and his best friend were watching it. They then followed it (along with some worried German soldiers) as it drifted off towards the coast never to be seen again! |

January is always a busy time as we continue our ever rolling refurbishment programme.
So far we have completely decorated apartments 1 and 2 and have installed a state of the art air conditioning system in guest bedrooms. |
